Weipeng Xu

I am a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), working on differentiable physics under the guidance of Prof. Tianju Xue.

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree (2017-2021) in Civil Engineering at the South China University of Technology (SCUT). Then I pursue my Master’s degree (2021-2024) under the supervision of Prof. Peng Wei, focusing on multidisciplinary topology optimization.

My research interests include computational mechanics, inverse problems, and scientific machine learning. I am particularly interested in the nonlinear and large-deformation analysis, as well as the optimization and control of robotics. I enjoy watching the anime of Yu-Gi-Oh! and playing its card games. My favorite deck is HERO, and I hope to attend the tournament one day. Traveling is another way to relax myself, and I prefer some peaceful and quiet places to fresh my mind.
